timothyandClaude Fable 5.1 3df98d247f docs(563): state each binder test's mechanism instead of its mutant colour, per the amended CLAIMS rule
`testing.mutation-claims-are-executed` was amended on main while this branch was in review (#881,
merged as #914): a sentence asserting that a specific mutation reddens — or does not redden — a named
test is now either a `CLAIMS` entry in `scripts/tests/mutation_manifest.py` that executes every run,
or it is not written. This branch carried six such sentences and none of them can be declared:
`Claim.node_id` resolves a proof to `scripts/tests/<node id>` and `run_pytest` invokes pytest, so an
NUnit proof has no representation in that harness at all.

Durable prose now states the mechanism each test is built on — which serializer difference, which
engine branch — which a reader re-checks by reading the code rather than by trusting a remembered
outcome. The record says that in one paragraph, so the limit is stated rather than papered over.

The outcomes themselves are here. Re-measured 2026-09-05 on this branch's tree (the commit before
this one), each mutant applied to the working tree and restored from the index between runs, tree
verified clean afterwards:

The last one is the round-two finding closed and re-witnessed: before the fixture's pad target moved

timothyandClaude Fable 5.1 c0a70d724a test(563): witness the Newtonsoft half of the binder claim, and narrow the prose to what reddens
The branch asserted that binding fixture bodies through ApiJsonSettings makes "a swap to a
lookalike serializer" redden. Measured, only half of that was true: replacing
ScriptedScheduleControllerTests' BodyBinderSettings with a plain `new JsonSerializerSettings()`
-- a Newtonsoft lookalike that has lost the production configuration -- left all 8 tests green.
Only the System.Text.Json swap reddened. So the production edits the branch makes for that
coupling (ErsatzTV/Serialization/ApiJsonSettings.cs and the Startup rewrite) were justified in
four places by a hazard no test could see.

Both halves are now real. Production_Body_Binder_Keeps_Declared_Defaults_Over_An_Explicit_Null
binds `{"order": null}` and posts it to AddCollection: NullValueHandling.Ignore keeps
ContentCollection.Order at its declared "shuffle" and the call is a 200, where Newtonsoft's own
Include default writes the null through and AddCollection's Enum.TryParse returns a 400. That is
a behaviour difference a script would see, not a settings-shape assertion, so it is not a second
copy of the settings list.

Mutants, run 2026-09-05 over the 9-test fixture:

  Bind -> System.Text.Json web defaults      2 red
  BodyBinderSettings -> new()                1 red (was 0 before this commit)
  OpenApi RuntimeSettings -> new()           4 red (write side, naming strategy)

What still nothing observes is Startup.ConfigureServices itself: re-inlining the
AddNewtonsoftJson lambda as a hand-copy of Apply reddens no test, because a byte-equal mirror is
behaviourally indistinguishable. ApiJsonSettings removes the duplicate rather than detecting its
drift, and docs/testing.md, the decision record and all four docstrings now say that instead of
claiming a detector. Drift confined to ReferenceLoopHandling or the StringEnumConverter is
witnessed by neither suite; that is stated rather than left implied.

Also files the 401 blind spot the record had described as "tracked separately" while nothing
tracked it. ersatztv#913 records the chain, verified from source: the filter is registered
globally, EndpointRequiresKey fail-closes every mutating verb, ScriptedScheduleController carries
no [SkipApiAuthorization], and neither ScriptedPlayoutBuilder nor entrypoint.py supplies a
credential.

timothyandClaude Fable 5.1 16a6e2790f test(563): bind the fixture with the production body binder, and name the wrapper that is left
The docstring, the decision record and docs/testing.md all claimed the replay covered everything
except two hops. MVC model binding was a third: production binds /api/* bodies with Newtonsoft
(Startup -> AddNewtonsoftJson -> CustomContractResolver + StringEnumConverter) while the replay
deserialized with System.Text.Json. Measured on this tree: for the fixture's own bodies the two
agree, but for a body omitting the `required` member "collection" they diverge -- System.Text.Json
throws, Newtonsoft binds Collection = null and the action runs. So the fixture's stated purpose
("field names and casing match what the HTTP body binder accepts") was asserted by nothing, and a
fixture production would bind differently could still go green.

Rather than only widening the residue list, bind the way production binds. The registration moves
into ErsatzTV/Serialization/ApiJsonSettings.cs, Startup applies it from there, and both
OpenApiSerializerContractTests (which had its own mirror of the settings) and the scripted replay
now call that same function -- one definition, no copies to drift.
Production_Body_Binder_Ignores_Required_Members asserts both halves of the divergence THROUGH the
replay's own Bind helper, so pointing the replayer at another serializer reddens; the fixture's own
bodies cannot witness that swap.

The residue is now named honestly in all four places: the binding WRAPPER (input formatter, the
[ApiController] automatic 400 before an action runs) is uncovered, the serializer inside it is not.

timothyandClaude Opus 4.8 f8ae4d62ab fix(552): mint a short-lived JWT so the SPA reaches /iptv/* under JWT auth
Under a JWT-enabled deployment (JWT:IssuerSigningKey set), /iptv/* is gated by
ConditionalIptvAuthorizeFilter and the "jwt" scheme does not accept the SPA's
ctv-session cookie, and nothing minted a JWT for the browser. So the #60 channel
preview was declared Unavailable and could not run at all.

Add GET /api/v1/auth/iptv-token (session-gated, on the [IgnoreApi] AuthController):
mints a short-lived global token via JwtHelper.GenerateBrowserToken (60 min default,
JWT:BrowserTokenLifetimeMinutes override), 204 when JWT is disabled. The SPA's new
withIptvToken(url) helper appends it as ?access_token= to the manifest URL (a no-op
when JWT is off), used by the channel-preview panel and the troubleshooting screen.
Mapper.GetPreview drops its iptvJwtEnabled -> Unavailable guard; preview is now
JWT-agnostic.

Live-E2E under JWT: /iptv manifest 401s without a token and passes with a valid one
(garbage token -> 401); token endpoint 401s anonymous, mints with a session.

Honest finding: the issue's point 2 (troubleshooting screen broken under JWT) does
not reproduce -- its live.m3u8 is static-served (UseStaticFiles at /iptv/session),
outside the JWT filter, so it was never gated. The withIptvToken call there is a
harmless defensive no-op.

Docs: security.iptv-browser-token (api-auth-security.md), amended
api.channel-preview-capability, spa-conventions §5b. No OpenAPI change (IgnoreApi +
unchanged Preview schema).

timothy 6000356739 fix(60): declare disabled-channel and no-playout as Unavailable preview causes
GetPreview keyed only on StreamingMode + JWT, so a disabled channel or one
with no playout was declared Available and then failed confusingly (404 from
IptvController, or an indefinitely-blocking manifest request). Extend it to
take isEnabled + playoutCount and check JWT, then disabled, then no-playout,
before falling back to the existing mode-based rules; order is documented
in a comment. Also corrects a stale comment in ChannelPreviewResponseModel.cs
that claimed a C# string generates a TypeScript union (it does not).

The guide/EPG grid (/app/guide) and the channels list (/app/channels) always
drew the generated initials "bug" because the browse DTOs never carried a logo
URL — GuideScreen/ChannelsScreen rendered <ChannelLogo> with no src. The logo
data existed (it round-trips through the channel editor) but never reached these
views.

Add a rooted, directly-usable Logo URL to ChannelGuideChannelResponseModel and
ChannelResponseModel, populated by a single Channels.Mapper.GetLogoUrl helper
(#181 artwork convention): /iptv/logos/{file} for an uploaded logo, the absolute
URL passed through for an external one, null when unset so the SPA keeps its
generated-initials fallback. The guide query now includes Channel.Artwork.

Regenerated OpenAPI + v1.d.ts; updated api-conventions.md + domain-model.md.

timothy 1a40b4a8e6 fix(72): report a real per-channel playout count on the channels API
The channels API could not answer "will this channel play?", which #72 needs
to flag a broken channel in the lineup at a glance.

Two defects, one root cause each:

1. `ChannelRepository.GetChannel` never included `Playouts`. The read is
   AsNoTracking with no lazy-loading proxies, so the navigation came back
   empty and `GetChannelByIdForApiHandler`'s `channel.Playouts?.Count ?? 0`
   could only ever evaluate to 0 — `GET /api/v1/channels/{id}` reported
   `playoutCount: 0` for every channel on the system. That silently disabled
   the channel editor's playout-source guard (ChannelEditScreen:820, gated on
   `playoutCount > 0`), so the "Cannot be changed once a generated channel has
   a playout" control was always live. The server still enforces the invariant
   (UpdateChannelHandler coerces Mirror back to Generated), so nothing was
   corrupted — but the user's change was silently discarded. That silent
   coercion is filed separately as #401.

2. The detail path counted only the channel's own playouts, never the mirror
   source's, so a working Mirror channel would read as "no playout" even once
   the include landed.

Both call sites now share `Mapper.GetPlayoutsCount` (previously private to
GetAllChannelsHandler), which handles the Mirror case. `ChannelResponseModel`
gains `PlayoutCount` so the list — #72's actual surface — can render it; the
count is free there, since `GetAll` already includes `Playouts` and
`MirrorSourceChannel.Playouts` and simply discarded them.

Tests run the real repository against a real context on purpose: a handler
test with a substituted IChannelRepository populates `Playouts` itself, so it
passes whether or not the query includes them. Proven non-vacuous — removing
the include again turns the 2-playout and mirror cases red (0 CS errors, so
no stale-dll false pass).

timothyandClaude Opus 4.8 70f357f8f9 feat(api): #288 ChannelDetailResponseModel for edit form + SPA repoints + final regen
Mint ChannelDetailResponseModel (faithful detail DTO exposing the raw editable
field set the channel editor reads: raw FFmpegProfileId/WatermarkId/FallbackFillerId
ids, the mode enums, logo, playoutCount, id) and route GetById/Create/Update through
it, replacing the lean list ChannelResponseModel that resolved the profile to a name
and dropped the editable ids (a functional regression for draftFromChannel). The lean
ChannelResponseModel stays unchanged for GET /api/channels. webEncodedName dropped
(SPA never reads it). Logo is mirrored as a Core ChannelLogoResponseModel since the
Application ArtworkContentTypeModel can't be referenced from Core.

Repoint the hand-written SPA client aliases now that the VMs are gone from the schema:
Channel -> ChannelDetailResponseModel, MediaCollection/SmartCollection -> *ResponseModel,
ProgramSchedule -> ProgramScheduleResponseModel. Fix #288 honest-nullability test fallout
in search.test.ts (null -> [] for now-non-null id arrays). Include the already-on-disk
playouts.ts WithDayNames removal and regenerate v1.json + v1.d.ts + endpoint-index.md
(authoritative final regen; the reset endpoint's {channelNumber}->{id} re-key surfaces
in the generated docs and the OpenApi error-contract test).

timothyandClaude Fable 5 35206b2199 test(api): drop stale WatermarkViewModel serializer-contract case (#126)
The flat ScheduleItemResponseModel removed the polymorphic ProgramScheduleItemViewModel
from the API surface, which was the only path exposing the Application VMs
(WatermarkViewModel, PlaylistViewModel, FillerPresetViewModel, collection VMs, etc.).
WatermarkViewModel is no longer in v1.json, so its serializer-contract guard case is moot.
ChannelViewModel still covers the schema transformer's VM path.

- OpenApiSerializerContractTests: add a fifth case, a fully-populated
  ChannelResponseModel — the only DTO with a [JsonProperty("ffmpegProfile")]
  override, i.e. the attribute path of NewtonsoftSchemaNamingTransformer that
  the existing four cases never exercised.
- NewtonsoftSchemaNamingTransformer: a rename colliding with an existing schema
  key now throws InvalidOperationException (naming the type and keys) instead of
  silently overwriting/dropping a property — the generator must never emit a
  lossy spec.

timothyandClaude Fable 5 f26790aa35 fix(api): mirror runtime Newtonsoft JSON casing in OpenAPI spec (#198)
The OpenAPI document is generated from System.Text.Json metadata, whose
camelCase drifted from the runtime MVC serializer (Newtonsoft via
CustomContractResolver/CustomNamingStrategy): the spec said "fFmpegProfileId"
and "fFmpegProfile" while the wire emits "ffmpegProfileId" (naming-strategy
special case) and "ffmpegProfile" (ChannelResponseModel's [JsonProperty]
override). That fed the SPA the wrong keys.

Add NewtonsoftSchemaNamingTransformer, an OpenAPI schema transformer registered
on all three documents that renames each object schema's Properties (and
Required) keys through the SAME Newtonsoft contract resolver the runtime uses,
so the spec matches the wire format by construction. Regenerate v1.json.

Guard with OpenApiSerializerContractTests: serializes fully-populated DTOs
through the runtime Newtonsoft settings and pins the v1.json schema property
sets to the emitted keys, failing if generation drifts again.
