Residual noted in docs/decisions/records/scan/mediaserver-statistics-from-server.md (#924): when GetMediaServerStatistics returns None for a new or changed item, the etag is still written, so a transient playback-info failure leaves the item without streams until a deep scan or server-side change. Same trade-off exists for movies and episodes. Options: skip the etag write on a failed statistics read for items with no stored streams (retries each scan), or bounded retry. Needs a decision; not urgent.
