Music videos carried no server identity, so JellyfinMusicVideoLibraryScanner had to
reconcile by a (LibraryPathId, path) diff and HARD-delete the remainder. A file served
by two libraries with overlapping local paths is a single row owned by whichever library
scanned it first, so that owner's sweep destroyed a row another library still served —
taking collection membership and playout references with it, irreversibly.
This is #494's deferred "option 2":
- New JellyfinMusicVideo : MusicVideo (ItemId/Etag), mirroring JellyfinMovie — TPT table,
varchar(36), ItemId index. Dual-provider migration Add_JellyfinMusicVideo.
- New IMediaServerMusicVideoRepository + JellyfinMusicVideoRepository: itemId-keyed
existing-set/lookup and Flag{Normal,Unavailable,FileNotFound} seams, all scoped per
library via LibraryPath.LibraryId.
- New MediaServerMusicVideoLibraryScanner base; JellyfinMusicVideoLibraryScanner folds
onto it and keeps the #177/#488/#497/#500 metadata-reconcile logic verbatim.
- The sweep now soft-trashes (FileNotFound) instead of deleting, so removal is reversible
and EmptyTrash-governed. DeleteEmptyArtists consequently no longer fires from a sweep.
- Pre-identity rows are ADOPTED in place: the identity row is inserted against the same
MediaItem id, scoped to the scanned library's own LibraryPath, so collection membership
survives and a local/second-library row is never hijacked.
- AddMusicVideo normalizes Path/PathHash to the path-REPLACED local path; the projection
fills them from the server-reported path, which would break every later PathHash lookup.
Docs: scan.musicvideo-reconciliation relocated to docs/decisions/archive/scan.md as
superseded; new active record scan.musicvideo-server-identity.

- Medium-1: wrap ExternalLogoMigratorService.ExecuteAsync in try/catch — a DB
exception (e.g. a channel deleted mid-migration -> DbUpdateConcurrencyException)
no longer trips BackgroundServiceExceptionBehavior.StopHost and kills the app;
it logs and self-heals on the next boot. Caller-cancel path handled separately.
- Low-2: CreateChannelHandler/UpdateChannelHandler validation failure now returns
errors.Join() (all accumulated errors) not errors.Head (first only), restoring
the repo-wide convention; regression test added.
- Low-4: corrected the Startup registration comment (migrator self-awaits
WaitForDatabase; order is not load-bearing).
Final whole-branch review: MERGEABLE @ 6d5f6b24 (fable). Carried Minors adjudicated
acceptable-defer.
`ImageElementBase.LoadImage` fetched http(s) images with a throwaway
`new HttpClient()` + `GetStreamAsync`: no timeout override (the 100s
default), no size cap, unbounded redirects, no pooling — all inside
stream startup, while ffmpeg waits on the pipe. #502 routed ordinary
channel-logo watermarks onto that path, widening a pre-existing weakness.
Introduce `IRemoteImageFetcher` / `HttpRemoteImageFetcher`, modelled on
the neighbouring `IRemoteStreamProber`:
- deadline covers headers AND body (linked CTS + `CancelAfter`, client
`Timeout = InfiniteTimeSpan`) — under `ResponseHeadersRead` the body
read falls outside `HttpClient.Timeout` (the #289 lesson)
- 10 MiB cap enforced during the copy; `Content-Length` is only a cheap
early reject, since it can be absent or a lie
- permissive content-type check (rejects an HTML error page, allows a
missing type and octet-stream)
- pooled via `IHttpClientFactory`; redirects capped at 3, not 50
A byte cap does NOT bound decoding, so `DecodeRemoteImage` additionally
reads declared dimensions + frame count from the header and rejects
before `Image.LoadAsync` allocates (50 MP / 600 frames). A 4 KB PNG
declaring 30000x30000 costs ~3.6 GB to decode and passes every wire-size
check — caught by adversarial review of the first version of this change,
which capped bytes and wrongly claimed that was decode-bomb protection.
Not cached and SSRF not mitigated — both deliberate, with the reasoning
recorded in docs/decisions.md.

Tuning a channel intermittently hard-failed with ffmpeg exit 8 and
`Server returned 404 Not Found` on /media/jellyfin/{itemId}.
Root cause: ValidatePlayoutItemPath checked `File.Exists` on the local
branch, but the three media-server remote-stream branches returned
`http://localhost:{port}/media/{plex,jellyfin,emby}/{id}` unconditionally.
When the media was gone from the media server too, validation "succeeded"
and ffmpeg was launched against a URL that 404s.
That bypassed the good error path the handler already had
(PlayoutItemDoesNotExistOnDisk renders an error card sized to run until
the NEXT playout item, so the dead item is skipped) and instead landed in
HlsSessionWorker's generic ffmpeg-failure path, which sizes its error card
to the failed 44s work-ahead chunk and then re-selects the SAME broken
item -- a repeating error card for the item's whole slot (~22 min).
Restore the method's own invariant: every PlayoutItemWithPath it returns
has been checked for existence. A definitive 404 now returns the new
PlayoutItemNotAvailableFromMediaServer error, handled in the same switch
arm as PlayoutItemDoesNotExistOnDisk.
The probe is deliberately fail-open: only a 404 reports the media gone.
A timeout, 5xx, auth error or transport failure reports available, so a
probe that cannot answer can never break a tune that would have worked.
That contract is pinned by tests so a later refactor cannot invert it.
Rejected alternatives (see docs/decisions.md): resizing the
HlsSessionWorker retry loop (cannot distinguish a dead item from a
transient transcoder failure -- prod has live VAAPI hwupload -22 failures
that must keep retrying), and writing MediaItemState from the streaming
path (breaks scanner ownership, and would not have fixed this: the item
is RemoteOnly, which PlayoutBuilder's skip does not exclude).
Scanner-side follow-ups filed separately: #476 (FileNotFound does not
cascade show -> episodes, the reason dead items keep being scheduled),

Two concurrent adds of the same item both membership-check it absent, both
insert the CollectionItem composite key, and the loser's
SaveChangesForcingVersion threw an uncaught DbUpdateException (SQLite 19 /
MySQL 1062) -> 500. Now the loser is an idempotent no-op.
- ConcurrencyExtensions.TrySaveChangesForcingVersion: bool-returning sibling
that catches only a classified unique/PK violation and returns false.
- 10 single-item Add*ToCollection handlers: return Unit.Default (no-op, skip
fan-out) on false — the racing winner already inserted + rotated + rebuilt.
- Bulk AddItemsToCollection: retry on a fresh context against recomputed
membership so a partial-overlap collision doesn't drop the non-colliding
items (bounded loop; common no-collision path runs once).
- Provider detection via a TvContext.IsUniqueConstraintViolation static
delegate (matches the existing IsSqlite/LastInsertedRowId provider seam),
wired from Startup to SqliteErrorClassifier / MySqlErrorClassifier.
- Add*ToPlaylist is NOT affected (PlaylistItem has its own identity PK; a
playlist may legitimately contain the same item more than once).
Tests: a negative-control anchor proves the race genuinely throws a classified
exception; end-to-end handler tests reproduce a real cross-connection race via
a shared-cache SQLite harness + a SavingChanges interceptor (the single-conn
in-memory fixture cannot). Every fix-dependent test verified to fail with the
catch disabled.

Version every /api route to /api/v1 (251 controller routes + ~24 Location
headers + the scanner callback URL + the Startup request-log literal),
uniform across the machine API, auth, scanner and scripted-build surfaces.
Add ApiVersionRewriteMiddleware: a legacy unversioned /api/* request is
rewritten (NOT redirected) to /api/v1/* in-pipeline — method, body, auth
headers and query survive — carrying RFC 8594 Deprecation/Sunset headers,
so curl / the future MCP server / bookmarks keep working. An already-
versioned path passes through; a future /api/v2 is never forced to v1.
Standardize the route convention (leading-slash absolute route per method,
no class-[Route] — except the two Scanner/Scripted controllers whose ~all
actions share a parametrized {id} prefix), enforced by ApiRouteVersioningTests
(^/api/v\d+/ over the whole Controllers.Api surface; browser-nav
/auth/oidc/login is out of scope).
Regenerate v1.json (160 paths, all /api/v1)/endpoint-index/v1.d.ts; sweep 945
SPA request literals + the test mocks (regex + positional URL parsers). /api/v1
is additive-only after freeze; the legacy-rewrite shim sunsets in ~2 releases

Independent review (cold fork = MERGEABLE-WITH-NITS; Codex = BLOCKED, caught
concurrency defects the fork missed). All actionable findings folded in:
- HIGH (Codex) atomic first-claim-wins: ClaimLocalAdmin now writes the three
credential rows in ONE transaction guarded by the unique ConfigElement.Key
index (lost race -> DbUpdateException -> 409), so concurrent claims can't
produce a mixed-state credential.
- HIGH (Codex) consistent login snapshot: VerifyLocalAdminLogin reads hash+stamp
in one query and drops rehash-on-verify, so a login racing a password change
can't capture a stamp newer than the hash it verified (concurrent change ->
old password fails, or the issued cookie carries the pre-change stamp ->
revoked next request).
- MEDIUM (Codex) env-seed migration race: LocalAdminSeedService is now a RunOnce
BackgroundService that awaits SystemStartup.WaitForDatabase (the migrator is a
BackgroundService; registration order didn't guarantee the schema) + try/catch.
- MEDIUM (fork M1) ForwardedHeaders: reverted the strict-opt-in flip — it would
regress /iptv M3U/XMLTV/HLS absolute-URL generation (Request.Scheme) behind a
proxy without KnownProxies. Kept #285 behavior; KnownProxies still recommended.
- LOW (Codex/fork) require X-CSRF on /api/auth/logout + /password (the
[SkipApiAuthorization] surface isn't covered by the filter's CSRF check;
closes forced-logout CSRF).
- ChangeLocalAdminPassword also writes hash+stamp atomically. Input length caps
on username/password.
Deferred with a tracked gate: MEDIUM (Codex) side-effecting [RequiresAuthentication]
GETs (troubleshoot playback/archive) aren't CSRF-covered -> #301, gates PR2
(latent in PR1: the SPA still uses the machine key).

Implements the ratified #295 design (PR1, server-only, backward compatible). The
/api surface now accepts a valid X-Api-Key (machine) OR an authenticated session
(browser cookie, local login or OIDC), gated by the evolved ApiAuthorizationFilter
(renamed from ApiKeyAuthorizationFilter; same fail-closed EndpointRequiresKey
predicate). Machine/key behavior is byte-identical and the SPA keeps working via
its stored key — the SPA login flow lands in PR2.
- ApiAuthorizationFilter: key-first (CSRF-immune) then session; session-authed
mutations require the X-CSRF header (403 otherwise). Attributes renamed
[RequiresApiKey]->[RequiresAuthentication], [SkipApiKeyAuthorization]->[SkipApiAuthorization].
- Cookie scheme ctv-session always registered (Lax/SameAsRequest/14d sliding, 401 not
redirect for /api); OIDC handler revived when configured (profile scope, userinfo,
auth-method claim); UseAuthentication/UseAuthorization/UseRateLimiter revived in the
legacy MapWhen branch.
- Local admin = single credential in ConfigElement rows (username / PBKDF2 hash via
Microsoft.Extensions.Identity.Core / rotating security stamp) — NO DB migration.
Password change rotates the stamp; CookieSecurityStampValidator revokes stale local
sessions. Env-seed recovery (Auth:LocalAdmin:*) via LocalAdminSeedService.
- AuthController /api/auth/{config,session,setup,login,logout,password} + browser-nav
GET /auth/oidc/login; excluded from OpenAPI (machine-audience spec). Per-IP rate limit
on login/setup/password; dummy-hash verify (no user enumeration).
- ForwardedHeaders now strict opt-in: X-Forwarded-* ignored unless KnownProxies/Networks
configured (rate-limiter IP + cookie-Secure integrity). Deployment: operators behind a
proxy must set ForwardedHeaders:KnownProxies.

Backend of #197 Bundle A (auth posture). Owner decisions: single API key;
Api:RequireKeyForReads defaults true (whole /api surface gated; /iptv streaming
+ guide unaffected — outside the filter's /api scope).
- #280 S1: writes are fail-closed. New IApiKeyProvider resolves the key once
(Api:WriteKey config, else persisted /config/api.key, else a generated 256-bit
key written 0600). The empty-key open branch is gone; there is no open mode.
- #282 S3/S5: reads under /api require the key when Api:RequireKeyForReads (default
true) or the endpoint carries the new [RequiresApiKey]. Applied [RequiresApiKey]
to Troubleshoot/Logs/Settings/Maintenance so the sensitive tier stays gated even
if reads are opened. OPTIONS preflight is exempt.
- #281 S2: delete SortController (dead Blazor SortableJS residue; SPA uses PUT
/api/collections/{id}/custom-order) and AccountController (dead OIDC logout) —
both non-/api persistent surfaces that bypassed the key.

The ChicoryTV React SPA (web/, served at /app) now has full parity for every
route the Blazor UI served, so the legacy Blazor Server / MudBlazor UI is
deleted. This is the milestone-capping removal of #91 phase (b).
Deleted: ErsatzTV/Pages/**, Shared/**, ViewModels/** (39 edit VMs),
Validators/** (10 edit-VM validators), App.razor, _Imports.razor,
Locals/{Shared,Pages}/** (Blazor loc resx; Locals/Resources.* kept),
wwwroot/css + wwwroot/lib, libman.json, and the orphaned MultiSelectBaseTests.
Startup.cs (surgical, not wholesale): removed AddRazorPages/AuthorizeFolder,
AddServerSideBlazor, AddMudServices, AddSortable, AddCourier, the HtmlSanitizer
registration, the Blazor-attached OIDC UseAuthentication/UseAuthorization
middleware (per the #206 auth-posture sign-off), MapBlazorHub, and
MapFallbackToPage("/_Host"). Renamed the branch blazor->legacy; it still
co-hosts MapControllers, /docs (Scalar), dev MapOpenApi and the redirect
middleware. Replaced the _Host fallback with a catch-all (MapFallback ->
302 /app) that excludes /api|/artwork|/docs|/openapi (genuine 404) per #204.
Kept all OIDC/JWT/API-key service wiring (inert unless configured; real auth
is #197), ConditionalIptvAuthorizeFilter, ApiKeyAuthorizationFilter.
Pruned 9 now-unused packages (all verified zero remaining consumers) from
Directory.Packages.props + ErsatzTV.csproj: MudBlazor, Heron.MudCalendar,
Blazored.FluentValidation, BlazorSortable, MediatR.Courier.DependencyInjection,
Markdig, HtmlSanitizer, Chronic.Core, NaturalSort.Extension. Also removed the
now-dead #25 razor-Sonar NoWarn.
LegacyUiRedirects: added the 14 /media/sources/* -> /app/libraries/* redirects
(SPA screens landed in #202) and lifted the #204-era /media/sources prefix ban.
Tests: Release build clean; full solution suite green. Updated Startup
source-text tests + added regression coverage that Blazor wiring is gone, the
catch-all is wired, and all 14 media-sources routes redirect.
Docs: blazor-route-parity.md (phase b COMPLETE), decisions.md (removal entry),
CLAUDE.md, contributing.md, README.md all updated in this PR.
Rollback: tag blazor-final is cut on pre-merge main as the first merge action.

Extend LegacyUiRedirects from an exact-match dictionary to a two-tier matcher:
Tier 1 keeps the exact Map (now 52 entries incl. the ?kind= browse roots),
Tier 2 adds 36 ordered segment-template PatternRules for id-carrying routes.
{id} is a strict positive integer (non-int/0/neg/overflow falls through), which
also makes the rule set collision-free by construction. New AppendQueryString
helper merges the incoming query into ?kind= targets with '&' (kills the
double-'?' bug); one-line Startup change keeps the redirect GET/HEAD-only 302
before UseRouting.
Completes phase-(a) Step 1 for every PARITY-OK route (#91 phase b); the
catch-all fallback replacing MapFallbackToPage stays with the removal PR.
/media/sources/* (#202) and /system/health remain deliberately un-redirected.

The OpenAPI document is generated from System.Text.Json metadata, whose
camelCase drifted from the runtime MVC serializer (Newtonsoft via
CustomContractResolver/CustomNamingStrategy): the spec said "fFmpegProfileId"
and "fFmpegProfile" while the wire emits "ffmpegProfileId" (naming-strategy
special case) and "ffmpegProfile" (ChannelResponseModel's [JsonProperty]
override). That fed the SPA the wrong keys.
Add NewtonsoftSchemaNamingTransformer, an OpenAPI schema transformer registered
on all three documents that renames each object schema's Properties (and
Required) keys through the SAME Newtonsoft contract resolver the runtime uses,
so the spec matches the wire format by construction. Regenerate v1.json.
Guard with OpenApiSerializerContractTests: serializes fully-populated DTOs
through the runtime Newtonsoft settings and pins the v1.json schema property
sets to the emitted keys, failing if generation drifts again.

Add a singleton ITroubleshootingPlaybackStatusStore (Core, alongside
TroubleshootingNotifier) that records the exit code + speed of the most
recent troubleshooting playback session. A new MediatR notification
handler writes to it on PlaybackTroubleshootingCompletedNotification, and

Make the ChicoryTV SPA the default UI: GET/HEAD requests to / and to
legacy Blazor routes with SPA equivalents (channels, schedules,
playouts, libraries, all settings pages, channel add) now 302 to their
/app counterparts, preserving query strings and the ETV_BASE_URL path
base. 302 not 301: the map will grow as parity lands and permanent-
redirect caching would make rollback painful.
Blazor-only functionality (collections, media browse/search, trakt,
filler presets, watermarks, ffmpeg profiles, blocks/decos/templates,
playout detail editors, logs, troubleshooting, channel edit) keeps
serving Blazor; the Blazor home stays reachable at /system/health.
Parity gaps are tracked in #140-#146; Blazor removal is phase (b).
Also adds an /app smoke assertion to the docker build workflow.

First slice of the REST API (ersatztv#2). Idiomatic REST over existing MediatR handlers; design in docs/rest-api.md.
Foundation: NotFoundError : BaseError (Core) to split 404 from 422; ApiResults mapping helpers (Either/Option -> 201+Location / 200 / 204 / 404 / 422), additive (existing *ToActionResult untouched); ApiKeyAuthorizationFilter (optional X-Api-Key on mutating actions, gated by Api:WriteKey, no-op when unset) — independent of the IPTV JWT toggle so Jellyfin/Dispatcharr reads are unaffected, applied at controller-class level so every mutating action incl. ResetPlayout is covered fail-safe.
Channels: POST /api/channels (201+Location), PUT/{id} (200/404), DELETE/{id} (204/404), GET/{id} (200/404). Request DTOs -> existing commands; responses reuse ChannelViewModel. Ported page-only validations into handlers (ShowInEpg-when-disabled, external-logo-URL, Group NotEmpty) + FFmpegProfile/Watermark/Filler existence on update for create-parity. Fixed a latent 500: the .Filter(c>0) existence pattern threw TaskCanceledException on not-found; rewritten to AnyAsync.
